anywhere的基本意思是“在（往〕什么地方，在（往〕任何地方”，多用于否定句、疑問句或條件句中，代替somewhere，但如果句中所述的去處不那么明顯的話，偶爾也可以用于肯定句，意思是“什么地方都…”“隨便什么地方”。
anywhere不用于比較等級。
詞語辨析
adv.(副詞)anywhere,somewhere這兩個副詞的含義接近，但單詞用法不同。其區(qū)別是：
1.somewhere只能用于肯定結(jié)構(gòu)，anywhere一般用于疑問句或否定句，偶爾也可用于肯定句。
例如I went somewhere in the neighbourhood我在附近走了走。
Did you go anywhere in the neighbourhood你到附近什么地方去過嗎?
I didn?t go anywhere in the neighbourhood我沒有到附近什么地方去過。
2.由這兩個詞構(gòu)成的短語也有這樣的區(qū)別如get somewhere表示“略有進展”，用于肯定句；而anywhere則用于否定句和疑問句，not get anywhere表示“沒有進展”。
例如Now,at last we know the murder weapon；now we?re getting somewhere.現(xiàn)在我們終于知道謀殺的武器，總算有點進展。
You?ll never get anywhere with that attitude.你持那種態(tài)度將毫無進展。
3.anywhere用于肯定句時，與somewhere在意思上有所區(qū)別，不能互換。
例如I lost my key somewhere near here.我的鑰匙是在這附近丟的。本句的意思是在附近某一處地方丟的，但說不出準(zhǔn)確的位置，如換成anywhere則表示“隨便什么地方”，這顯然在邏輯上不通，故不能換用。
